Expelled Akali leader Rana says, he shot out of rage, ASI's daughter to be appointed in Punjab Police

The ASI's widow Paramjeet Kaur was wailing and she demanded justice. 



IGP, Border Range, RP Mittal, Amritsar Police Commissioner Ram Singh and Akali and Congress leaders attended the funeral. The pyre was lit by the ASI's daughter Robinjeet Kaur and son Navpreet Singh.

Former minister and Attari legislator Gulzar Singh Ranike was the lone Akali leader to attend the cremation.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu was with the bereaved family all through the cremation rites.

Sidhu said it was time for introspection for all political parties.  "The parties should identify its members with a criminal background and shunt them out while the police should not brook political interference," she said.

Meanwhile, the prime accused in the murder expelled Akali leader Ranjit Singh Rana is unrepentant.  

He told mediapersons at the Patti Civil Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, that it all happened in the "heat of the moment. "

“He would have killed me had I not shot him,” he said.
