Jaipur, Dec 8: Terming the Varanasi blast as a "demonic face of Jehadi terrorism," Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said entry of non-Hindus into the temples of Kashi should be banned.

"The blast is a demonic face of Jehadi terrorism and it establishes that terror activities are constantly rising in the country, which is a matter of serious concern to all," VHP Joint General Secretary Vinayak Rao Deshpandey said at a press conference here.

"Entry of non-Hindus into the temples of Kashi should be banned. Saints raised the demand last night and we support it. However, it will be discussed in detail in our annnual meeting, which is scheduled to take place next month," he said.

He also demanded that the city of Kashi be given the status of a protected heritage site.

Deshpandey said though he welcomed the Allahabad High Court's verdict over the Ayodhya title suit, he did not agree with the three-way division of the land between the party for Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and the Nirmohi Akhara.

"The division of land is not an acceptable point. Besides, the 70-acre land which is in possession of the Union government must be handed over for the building of Ram temple," he said.

Accusing the Union government of not taking up the issue of terrorism seriously, he said they should take "strong decisions" like the US in dealing with the menace, including hanging Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who has been sentenced to death.

"The US dealt with terrorism very effectively and ensured non-occurrence of incidents like the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, and our government should also make some strong decisions like execution of death penalty to Afzal Guru and destroying terror camps of Pakistan," he said.

Deshpandey said that a yagna and meeting in support of their demand to get a bill passed in Parliament for the construction of Ram temple would be held in Jaipur on December 18. PTI
