New Delhi: Eight Border Security Force (BSF) jawans including an Assistant Commandant were injured when militants attacked a convoy on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Pampar in Pulwom district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident took place late on Monday evening when the convoy was returning from Chandanwari in Phalgam after completion of Amarnath pilgrimage duty.
A senior BSF official said that on reaching near road junction in Pampar, militants opened heavy fire from both sides of the road.
The convoy was moving towards Srinagar's Pantha Chowk camp, the official added.
All the injured jawans were immediately rushed to Army's 92 base hospital for medical assistance. The condition of Assistant Commandant is said to be critical.
Meanwhile, the Army, Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force, J&K Police's Special Operation Group have launched a massive hunt to nab the militants in the region.
