After days of waiting, the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday questioned former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda for several hours in connection with the multi-crore hawala and illegal investment case against the politician and his associates.
Official sources said Koda was questioned inside the premises of the Birsa Munda Central jail here where the Lok Sabha member is currently lodged.
They said a special ED team had come here from the national capital along with a prepared questionnaire. The questioning that started in the morning and continued till late afternoon revolved on Koda's foreign trips and various investments carried out by him and his associates.
He was also questioned about the source of his declared income and that of his associates. The sources refusing to elaborate further saying Koda would be questioned again.
Koda is currently under the judicial custody after his arrest by Jharkhand vigilance department on November 30 in a disproportionate assets case. Koda has been in and out of the hospital since the ED slapped the case against him and seven others on October 9 under Foreign Exchange Management Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
