New Delhi, Jan 16: After getting disturbing reports of male observers sent to Goa during the last elections indulging in drinking and merry making on the beaches, the Election Commission this time has decided to send all women's team of officers to oversee the Goa assembly polls.
Twenty women officers, three each from Gujarat, AP and MP, two each from Haryana and Chhattisgarh, and one each from Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra have been selected.
"EC is in no mood to oblige the male officers who were looking forward to a month-long holiday stint in Goa", an official in EC said.
In the past, there were complaints against male observers sent by EC consuming alcohol during working hours, partying on the beaches at night, and their binges being taken care of by certain candidates.
This time too the male officers were lobbying for being posted to Goa, but the EC has nipped this effort in the bud.
