DTC to offer free ride to "Red Fort" to citizens on Independence Day

New Delhi: The Delhi Government has decided to offer free DTC service to the citizens of Delhi to help them reach Red Fort on 15th August 2014. This service will be available from 6 AM

New Delhi: The Delhi Government has decided to offer free DTC service to the citizens of Delhi to help them reach Red Fort on 15th August 2014. This service will be available from 6 AM to 10 AM on 15th August. The DTC will play patriotic songs in 350 buses plying on the route that day.


The Lt. Governor Shri Najeeb Jung has issued a special appeal to the citizens of Delhi on the Eve of India's 68th Independence Day to be observed on 15th August, 2014.

He said: “I exhort the citizens of Delhi to participate with great vigour and zest in the celebrations of the 68th Independence Day of India. I urge the people to come out in large numbers and participate with enthusiasm in the special drives, programmes and celebrations being organized by the Delhi government.”

“We are organizing a special drive to provide a clean and green Delhi to the citizens and their participation in our efforts will bring our plans to fruition. We intend to provide free DTC service to the citizens travelling to Red Fort to hear the Prime Minister speak on 15th August 2014.”

“ It is participation by the people of Delhi which will make our Independence Day celebrations special. I urge people from all walks of life to come out and own the city and participate with full vigour and gusto in the celebrations we have planned for them.”

“I urge you to demonstrate your participation through display of flowers, flags, balloons and by actively participating in these events. Let us all take pride in our Nation and celebrate India's 68th Independence Day together.”
