Delhi: An inspector of Delhi Police rammed his Hyundai Accent car into a stationed Lancer car and then threatened local people saying he would open fire from his pistol if anyone dared to catch him. He told the mob that he was an SHO, reports Mid Day.
The incident took place at around 4 pm at Ashram Chowk in Rohini (South) area of outer Delhi. A senior police officer said an FIR was lodged against the drunk cop Surender Dev.
"Surender Dev is posted with the Police Training College (PTC). When he was driving his car in an inebriated condition on Sunday, he lost control and rammed his four-wheeler into a parked Lancer. We are taking necessary action against him. An FIR of rash and negligent driving has been registered against him," said an officer.
The car belonged to Pavtira, a local resident. It is reported that when Pavtira called the PCR, Dev tried to take them under his influence.
According to some eyewitness, the cop had his uniform in the car and also had a service pistol. The accused also clashed with a PCR personnel. He was taken to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for medical checkup in which the alcohol content in his blood sample was confirmed.
"Pavitra is a local resident. On the basis of his complaint we have filed an FIR," said the officer.
