Vadodara: The Congress candidate against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi requested the Election Commission of India in Vadadora on Tuesday not to allow events by Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar and yoga guru Ramdev in Vadodara before Lok Sabha elections.
"I request ECI not to allow Sri Sri Ravishankar and Baba Ramdev to hold their events in Vadodara respectively on April 23 and 26," Congress nominee Madhusudan Mistry told reporters.
Sri Sri Ravishankar is scheduled to attend an event in Vadodara on April 23 while Ramdev will attend a function on April 26.
Mistry also alleged spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar and Ramdev support Modi from religious platforms.
"They (Sri Sri and Ramdev) have been using religious platforms to canvass for BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Religious organisations which arrange events should be asked about such events and they must be told to hold them after Lok Sabha elections," Mistry said.
Mistry also said he will file a complaint if the Election Commission of India does not take pro-active action.
Staunch Modi supporter Ramdev has been canvassing against the Congress-led UPA government and often made appeals to vote in favour of NDA while Sri Sri Ravishankar has also praised Modi on several occasions, he said.
