Kolkata: Completing 200 years, the Diocese of Calcutta Sunday launched year-long celebrations that includes walkathon, sports tournaments and interfaith linkages to mark the occasion.
Led by Bishop Ashoke Biswas and a host of priests, the celebrations were launched with a Thanksgiving service at the St Pauls' Cathedral - the mother church of the Church of North India.
The priests read out from the Bible and offered prayers during the thanksgiving ceremony that was followed by special worship dances and songs by students of various educational institutions under the diocese.
The celebrations include the launch of "Resonance of the Chronicle", a documentary showcasing the diocese's 200 years journey.
