New Delhi, May 23: Delhi Lokayukta Manmohan Sarin Wednesday came down heavily on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for misusing public money to "gain favour" for her and her political party ahead of the assembly polls in 2008.
He also asked President Pranab Mukherjee to "advise" Dikshit to reimburse either herself or through her party a sum of Rs.11 crore as half the cost of the advertisements.
In his order, Sarin recommended to President Mukherjee to caution Dikshit for her alleged act.
"A caution should be issued to the respondent (Dikshit) for publishing and releasing advertisement purportedly to be as government advertisement in 2007-2008 actuated by improper motives to gain favour for herself and her party," said Sarin in his order.
Following on a complaint by Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party leader, the Lokayukta had initiated inquiry into the matter.
