Indore, Sept 18: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday advised Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi to stop his drama (nautanki) and get on with the rehabilitation of 2002 riot victims.

Speaking to reporters here, Singh said: "It is a matter of happiness that Narendra Modi has abandoned Guru Golwalkar's (late RSS chief) method and has become a Gandhian. May God give him the good sense of working for communal harmony. But he should stop this drama and work for rehabilitation of those whose relatives were killed during the riots."

Singh said, Tehelka sting operations have revealed Gujarat officials confessing to their role in fake encounters of innocent people. "Modi should take action against such officials", he added.

The Congress leader said, if Modi considers himself guilty of non-action for the killing of former MP Ahsan Jafri, then he should confess and be prepared to face punishment."Modi should also ensure justice to the family of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya", said Digvijay Singh.

On moves in BJP to project Modi as prime ministerial candidate, Singh smiled and said, this would prove a blessing in disguise for the return of UPA into power for the third consecutive time in a row.
