New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affair has stripped diplomat Devyani Khobragade of her duties as director in the partnership development division. Khobragade has been put under “compulsory watch” by the Ministry that has taken serious view on statements made by the diplomat.

 
Devyani had not disclosed to the ministry of Foreign Affairs that her children had US passports. Sources say that this enraged the Ministry that had supported her to the extent of straining relations with the US.
 
Khobragade, a mother of two daughters was arrested and strip-searched in New York in December last year on charges of ill-treating her domestic help. She along with the Indian government by stood by her denied those charges and she was returned to India.
 
This incident considerable strained the relations between the two nations until recently when US President and Narendra Modi reaffirmed bond.
