Mumbai: A motor coach derailed here this evening resulting in disruption of up and down suburban local services on the harbour line, a railway official said. The incident took place at 6.55 pm when an up local coming from Bandra derailed while entering platform number two of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) during peak hours, the official said.
Since the train was running at a low speed no injury was reported to any passenger, they said.Suburban harbour line services, both up and down, were suspended between CST and Wadala Road Station.
However, suburban railway services between Wadala Road to Andheri and Wadala Road to Panvel were unaffected. “Passengers were allowed to travel from CST to Kurla on the same tickets,” Central Railway spokesperson A K Singh said.
“A team of engineers and senior officials have rushed to the spot and efforts are on to restore services as soon as possible. Services are expected to resume at around 10.30 pm,” he said.
A probe has been ordered to ascertain the reason behind the incident, he added.
