Bhubaneswar, July 30: Odisha Tuesday cautioned its fishermen against venturing out into the sea as a low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, an official said.
The depression lay centred about 180 km southeast of Balasore, an official of the meteorological centre here told IANS.
The system would move further and cross the state coast between Chandbali and Digha by Tuesday night, he said.
All ports in the state have been asked to hoist storm warning signal number three, he said.
Strong and gusty surface winds at 45-50 kmph may prevail along and off the state coast.
While rain would occur at most places of the state, some places may witness heavy to very heavy rain during the next two days, he said.
The sea condition will be rough to very rough. Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea, the official said.
