New Delhi: In a major reshuffle, the Delhi Lt Governor on Thursday transferred 35 police officials including Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Vijay Singh, who was involved in the crackdown on agitating armyveterans demanding One-Rank-One-Pension at Jantar Mantar here.
Singh has been transferred to the north-west district of Delhi Police, a senior police official said, adding Jatin Narwal, currently additional DCP in New Delhi district, will replace him. In northwest district, Vijay Singh will replace DCP N Gnanasambandan, who has been transferred to the Police Training College as its new Vice-Principal, the official said.
The Delhi police has said that the transfer is a part of major reshuffle. "These are routine transfers after completion of tenures and are not related with OROP," Rajan Bhagat, PRO Delhi Police said. The reshuffle included six officials of ACP rank who have been transferred on promotion, the official added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav, who has served at the counter-terrorism unit for around eight years, has been transferred to the New Delhi district as Additional DCP II. Yadav has served in Special Cell in two separate tenures - once as ACP and again as DCP, said a senior official.
Meanwhile, Additional DCP (South) Pramod Singh Kushwah, who is also a member of the Special Investigation Team set up by Delhi Police to probe the Sunanda Pushkar murder case, will be taking charge as DCP Special Cell. Kushwah had served both Crime Branch and Special Cell before, said the official.
In Delhi Police Crime Branch, the only change is replacement of one of the four DCP rank officials. DCP (Crime) DK Gupta has been transferred to the IGI Airport and his position has been given to Dr Rajiv Sharma, who is yet to join the department on completion of training, said the senior official. DCP Mohd. Irshaad Haider of IGI Airport and Additional DCP II (South) Rajiv Ranjan have both been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing, the senior official added.
