New Delhi: In order to curb pollution in the National Capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi- led NDA government has approved plans to make Delhi free of petrol and diesel generators.
It was disclosed by the Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday.
“We want to make Delhi free of diesel generators and invertors through short-term and long term plans,” said Goyal.
Goyal also revealed that the government has approved a programme for 7400 mega watt power transmission to Delhi.
“We are going to change five lakh streetlights in Delhi. Lighted roads will help in women security,” added Goyal.
When asked about the CAG audit for power companies, the Power Minister said that according to law only eight years' record is maintained by the companies.
However, he further clarified, “But you ask for records since 2002. I held four meetings with the power companies. As a CA (chartered accountant), I can tell you how audit is possible. I would have ordered for audit of eight years for which record is available.”
