New Delhi, Apr 20: Even as doctors in the AIIMS are fighting a grim battle to save the life of the five-year-old rape victim, nicknamed Gudiya by a section of the media, experts say the next 24 to 48 hours are vital for the girl, as she is having severe infection due to grievous injuries.
The victim has severe injuries on her private parts, breast, lips and cheeks, with bruises on her neck, indicating an effort to strangulate her by the sex fiend.
External objects like the 200 ml plastic bottle and candles were taken out from her body, and antibiotics are being given to stop spreading of infection.
"In my entire medical career, I have not seen such brutalities committed on a girl", said Dr R N Bansal, medical superintendent of Swami Dayanand Hospital, where Gudiya was being treated before she was shifted to AIIMS on Friday evening.
The most horrible part of all this is: Gudiya has no sense of the brutalities committed on her. Inside the hospital, she cries out in pain and tries to stop doctors from giving her treatment. At some point of time, doctors had to anaesthesize parts of her body to give treatment.
"It was difficult for the doctors to even touch the victim's body", said Bansal. She was so much in pain that she was resisted being touched, he added.
