Delhi police has arrested a housemaid Reena alias Rubia alias Ruby and her husband Rakesh alias Nandu from Jalandhar in connection with the murder of senior citizen Rajinder Kaur Ahuja, 68, in Rajouri Garden.
Police have recovered Rs 12 lakh worth jewellery looted from the house. The couple was hiding in the house of Reena's maternal uncle. The couple used to stay in Raghubir Nagar. A cellphone used by the victim was also recovered from Rubia.
DCP West Sharad Agrawal said, Reena had hatched the plan of murder and robbery. She sent away the lady's son outside the home on some pretext and called in her husband to commit the felony.
The two strangulated Rajinder Kaur with a ‘chunni', and then slit her throat with a blade. Reena then asked her husband to flee with the jewellery. As the lady's son returned, Reena went out of the house telling him not to wake up his mother as she was sleeping, the DCP said.
The couple is now repenting for committing the felony, says police.
