New Delhi:  Delhi Police on Monday launched a web-based app for issuing Character Verification Report (CVR).

The app, launched by Commissioner of Police B.S. Bassi, handles multiple application submission in a single click.

Bassi said the app will provide online facility for registration of CVR, filing personal details and documentation for it.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Garima Bhatnagar said the app will help people get CVRs faster than the manual method.

"With the help of this app, applicants will be provided digitally-signed CVRs within 30 days instead of 45 and more days that were consumed in the manual process," Bhatnagar said.

The Delhi Police Special Branch, which issues around 75,000-80,000 CVRs every year, deals with verification of character and antecedents of candidates for employment in government, semi-government, public sector undertakings and other departments.

Character verification of employees of private firms is also conducted on request of employers concerned. Fee is charged from the employers for such CVRs.

She said the app will also save time and expenditure on issuing CVRs.

"The app will save around 3-5 working days and Rs.10-15 lakh expenditure on issuing CVRs. Besides, it will also spare at least 20 people out of 28 presently dealing with the CVR procedure in the Special Branch alone," she said.

The JCP said payment can also be made online.

This was another initiative of the Special Branch after the introduction of online issuance of Police Clearance Certificates.

Addressing Special Branch officers, Bassi asked them to improve their collection of intelligence through better public interaction and use of new technological tools.
