New Delhi: Twenty Delhi Police personnel have been selected for medals for their meritorious service, on the eve of the Independence Day.


This includes one President's Police Medal for Gallantry, two Police Medal for Gallantry, two Distinguished Service Medals and 15 Police Medal for Meritorious Service.  Late HC (Exe.) Ram Kishan (Posthumously) has been selected for President's Police Medal for Gallantry while Late HC (Exe.) Yashpal Rathi (Posthumously) and Ct. Umesh Kumar would get the Police Medal for Gallantry.

DCP (Security) Prabhakar and ACP Ashok Kumar Sharma, have been selected for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

DCP (Security) Bhairon Singh Gurjar, DCP (EOW) S D Misra, DCP Jagjeet Singh Deswal, DCP Sharat Kumar Sinha, ACP Sandeep Byala, Inspector (Exe.) Diwan Chand, Inspector (Min.) Praveen Kumar, W/SI (Exe.) Durga Kapri, SI (Supvr./Ops.) Satyavan and Ct. (Armour) Rambir Singh are among those who have been chosen for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.  

Ram Kishan was fatally shot by gangster Surender Malik and his accomplices in November 2012 when he stopped the gangster's car at Jonty Kannoda toll plaza check post for routine vehicle checking.
