New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a Delhi traffic constable was allegedly ran over by a car by three people after an argument broke out between the driver of the car and the cop. The accused driver and two minors have been taken into custody.
The victim, Mana Ram, is survived by his wife, a two-and-a-half-year-old child and a younger sister.
He was given police honour on Sunday by commissioner B S Bassi before the body was handed over to the family.
The incident occurred last evening when constable 26-year-old Mana Ram stopped a Ritz car at Zakhira flyover.
The driver of the car, named Raman, had an argument with the deceased after he refused to allow the driver to go on the flyover.
The man allegedly ran over his car on Mana Ram. The three occupants of the car fled the spot after the incident, abandoning the car.
The constable was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Police, later, arrested the accused.
The police have booked the accused for murder. They are examining the CCTV footage of the area.
Ram was the eleventh traffic cop killed on Delhi roads since 2009.
