Delhi Police Head Constable Sharda Saini never dreamed that her house in a police colony would ever been robbed, but the fact is her house has been robbed thrice in the last 7 months.
On Wednesday afternoon, Saini, who is posted with the Licensing Department, got a call from her neighbours that something was amiss at her staff quarters at Andrews Ganj in South Delhi. Saini, a widow, lives with her 27-year-old mentally challenged son, reports Hindustan Times.
“My neighbours called me up to say that some people were loading up my gas stove, television and other items in an auto. I was alarmed as my son was alone at home. I rushed back and found my house had been cleaned of everything valuable,“ said Saini.
She called the PCR at around 12:30 p.m. An FIR for burglary was registered at the Hauz Khas Police Station.
A policewoman herself, she said the police were not doing enough h to help her. “It is a case of robbery. My son told me that he was threatened at knifepoint if he made any noise. But the police have registered just a case of burglary. Someone is targeting my house again and again.“
The last two times her house was burgled in a matter of fortnight.
“The first incident of burglary took place on October 7 last year and the next on October 21. Then, too, the thieves took away my television This time around also they have got away with it. All my wedding jewellery, everything owned is gone. I do not even have a gas stove to cook dinner tonight. I do not even know whom to turn to,“ said Saini. The police, however, said they have taken fingerprints and other evidence and are looking into the matter.
