New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi has ordered probe into the suicide committed by a farmer today during AAP rally at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The farmer hanged himself from a tree at the rally venue. He was rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Delhi Police investigation will be headed by a joint CP. The development came after Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the Delhi Police chief to institute an inquiry into the death.
Later, Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Kumar Viswas said Delhi Police rejected its appeals to help bring down the man who had climbed the tree.
In a tweet, the home minister's office said: "The home minister spoke to Delhi Police commissioner and instructed him to institute an inquiry into the incident of farmer suicide in Delhi." The dead body of the farmer has been handed over to his relatives who are now taking his body back to Dausa.
