New Delhi, May 19: Rewa, a resident of Srinivaspuri, Delhi, has been practically kept under “house arrest” by her parents for the last one month in order to prevent her from marrying her lover Naveen, who belongs to a different caste, the girl alleged.
Rewa told India TV reporter through the window grill that her parents constantly keep her locked inside a room to prevent her from going outside.
The matter went up to the Delhi High Court which has issued a notice to Rewa's parents to appear on May 31.
Meanwhile, the girl alleged that her parents had been pressurizing her to change her statement before the court.
In a letter written to her lover Naveen, Rewa has written: “Naveen, I love you and want to marry you. My parents wants to marry me to some other guy. Naveen, please get me freed. I don't want to stay in this house. I fear for my life.”
