New Delhi, Oct 31: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) may soon write to the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for an inspection of the Airport line as the repair work on the closed line is nearing completion, sources said.
Well placed sources said a meeting of top officials of the Urban Development ministry, DMRC officials and Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL), the operators of the line, was held here today.
Senior officials came to the conclusion that since the work was nearing completion, the CMRS should be approached for a safety inspection, sources said.
The DMRC is expected to write a letter to the CMRS requesting a date for inspection.
Reliance Infrastructure-led Delhi Airport Metro Express was closed down on July 8 as defects were found in the structure of the line.
The Urban Development ministry had stepped in and allowed the closure of operations till the completion of repair work after the operator of the metro line expressed fears over safety of passengers.
The airport express line connects the New Delhi Railway station with the Indira Gandhi International airport.
