New Delhi: Delhi Metro on Friday opened a pedestrian subway at Ram Charan Agarwal Chowk, popularly known as ITO crossing, for easy and safe passage to people.
The 71 meter long and five meter wide subway was inaugurated by Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.
It connects the Delhi Police Headquarters and Engineers' Bhawan and is a part of the under construction ITO Metro station.
"We are committed to the safety of commuters, especially women," Delhi Metro managing director Mangu Singh said.
Singh hoped the subway will be of great benefit to the pedestrians who cross the busy ITO intersection everyday. Work on the subway had started in June 2013 and was completed in August, 2014.
