New Delhi: The Delhi Metro modified a central Delhi roundabout to ease traffic flow around it, a statement said on Sunday.
The Delhi Metro took over the rotary in central Delhi from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in October 2011 to facilitate the construction of Mandi House Metro station and related tunneling.
"The Delhi Metro has modified the Mandi House rotary to smoothen the traffic around it...The tunneling was a part of the extension of Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate Phase III line of the project," it said.
The circular intersection was temporarily modified to facilitate the construction, and once it was over, the roundabout was restored in consultation with the Delhi Traffic Police to smoothen vehicular traffic around it.
The diameter of the rotary has been widened from 78 to 81 metres and it has also been shifted towards the Copernicus Marg, it said.
It will be handed over to the NDMC later next month.
