New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Tuesday a plea seeking to review its order to e-rickshaws in the national capital.
Last week, the Delhi High Court had passed an order stopping e-rickshaws from plying in the national capital and observed that in the present situation ‘plying of e-rickshaws is illegal'.
The court had also asked the Central Government to immediately stop e-rickshaws from plying on national capital roads and form policy guidelines for the same by August 14.
The High Court had taken suo moto cognizance of an accident in Trilokpuri area of east Delhi in which a three-year-old boy killed.
Meanwhile, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry said that the government is mulling to amend the Motor Vehicles Act to exclude e-rickshaws from its purview.
It should be noted that e-rickshaws or battery-operated rickshaws have been embroiled in controversy for the past several months.
