New Delhi, Jul 11: A five-year-old girl Tannu fell into an open pit on Sunday in a park in Mandavali and by the time she was rescued, she had breathed her last as the pit was filled with rainwater.
The girl had gone out of her home to fetch milk from the local outlet, when she began playing in the park.The pit was dug by Delhi PWD to lay a sewer line and was filled with overnight rain water.
Local residents have demanded that action be taken against the concerned PWD official and compensation be given to the girl's family. They complained that the pit was kept open and was not surrounded with warning signs.
