New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has asked the city police to provide protection to a couple who had eloped and married against the wishes of the women's parents.
Justice G.S. Sistani, observing that the woman is a major, allowed her to go with her husband and asked Neb Sarai police to provide protection to the couple.
The couple approached the court for protection from the woman's family members, who allegedly threatened them.
On Nov 7, the woman's parents had registered a complaint against the man for kidnapping his daughter. Her father alleged that her daughter was going to get married on Nov 21 and the man had kidnapped her before her marriage.
However, the woman told the court she fears her parents will kill her for "honour" and she had married that man four years ago but did not disclose it to her family.
