New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief J P Agarwal on Sunday submitted his resignation to AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday.

Agarwal mentioned the party's defeat in 2013 assembly elections in his resignation letter.

The Congress, on December 8, suffered its worst-ever performance in the national capital, managing to win only eight out of the  70 seats.

Senior functionaries in the DPCC had alleged that Agarwal had not supported the party's decision to give outside support to the AAP to form the government.
