New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday sought the central government's response to a plea seeking to broaden the zone of consideration for the appointment of the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and making the entire process transparent.
Attorney General assures SC that no final decision will be taken in the appointment of CVC during the pendency of the case.
The apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice R.M. Lodha asked the government to respond by Oct 9 as Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi assured the court that the government will not go with appointment of the Chief Vigilance Commissioner till the matter was heard by it.
Noting the assurance by Rohatgi, the court directed the listing of the matter for final hearing Oct 14.
