Indore, Sept 4: Curfew was relaxed till 10 am today as peace returned in the riot-affected localities. Communal clashes here had taken a toll of two persons and eight others were injured.
On Saturday evening, curfew was relaxed in seven police station areas till 8 pm. The relaxations were not given in two sensitive police station areas – the Mahakal and Dewas Gate.
The clashes occured over a dispute related to installation of Lord Ganesha idol at a shop near a mosque in Daulatganj locality on Friday night. Two of the injured succumbed to their injuries during treatment, police said.
Inspector general of police Upendra Jain said the situation was under control and police were on the lookout for miscreants who were behind the clashes Police have rounded up at least 80 persons. Search operations were being conducted at various houses to trace the culprits behind Friday's clash.
Three companies of Rapid Action Force arrived in the temple town to keep the situation under control. Senior police officials are camping in the town and several rounds of meetings have taken place with leaders of both the communities.
