Faizabad (UP), Oct 29: Curfew continued in the violence-hit areas of Faizabad for the fourth day on Sunday, even as district authorities held meetings with members of both the communities and asked them not to get panicked over rumours.
As part of confidence building measures, Magistrate Deepak Agrawal, along with SSP Ramit Sharma, met people from various localities for bring them together under one umbrella for discussions.
The administration also constituted locality-wise committees consisting representatives from both communities that will work for establishing peace in their respective areas.
Expressing satisfaction that no untoward incident was reported in past few days, Agrawal said special measures have been taken by the administration to check spread of rumours.
Around 70 people have been arrested for being involved in the violence that broke out on October 24, he said.
The administration has made arrangements for ensuring adequate supply of essential commodities like milk, vegetables, cooking gas and kerosene to the public, he said.
Drug shops have been kept open and medical staff of government district hospital is on 24-hour duty to cope with emergency cases, Agrawal said, adding that a round-the-clock nodal camp has been set up in the DM office to help people register their grievances.
Meanwhile, Ayodhya MLA Tej Narain Pandey today held a number of peace meetings with representatives from both communities.
