Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir has started a crackdown on separatists, who have given a call for a Million March to TRC Grounds here on November 7, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting the state to announce a major package at the SK Stadium here.

Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed said, Modi's November 7 visit will be a 'turning point in the history of state, as the people here have great expectations.'

"I see this visit as an opportunity for history to repeat itself, when the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Srinagar in 2003", the chief minister said.

Meanwhile, the hardliner Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said the "massive crackdown" on separatists ahead of Modi's visit is a sign of frustration on part of the government.

Both the Hurriyat factions, JKLF and other separatist organisations are supporting this call.

The state police is closely monitoring all social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter  and WhatsApp to foil the Million March.  A senior police official said, strict action will be taken against those found involved in promoting any 'chalo' call on their social networking pages.

The state police has detained separatist leaders in different districts to prevent them from taking part in the march. JKLF chief Yasin Malik has been lodged in Kothibagh police station alongwith other JKLF leaders, while Geelani has been put under house arrest in Hyderpora.
