Kolkata: Urging the party to prepare for a nation wide movement against economic crisis in the country, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat yesterday said the party would organise meetings in state capitals in search of alternative policies.
“The condition of the economy is worsening rapidly. In this situation we have to take up a nation wide movement against price rise, food security, unemployment and other economic issues,” Karat said in his address at a CPI(M) state committee meeting here.
Karat said, “We have to organise meetings in state capitals in search of alternative policies.
This process will start with a meeting in Chennai,” Karat said.
Karat also called for strengthening secular forces in the country.
“We have to increase anti-communal protests across the country. And, in this regard we will unify all secular forces and organise an anti-communal convention in New Delhi,” a party statement quoting Karat said.
