Kolkata : Questioning Trinamool Congress' silence over Narendra Modi being projected as BJP's prime ministerial candidate, CPI(M) yesterday said TMC doesn't have any ideology and will side with the party which comes to power.

“The Trinamool Congress doesn't speak a word against communalism and BJP. When riots were taking place in Gujarat in 2002, then they (Trinamool) were in the same NDA government led by BJP at the Centre.

They are such a party which decides its policies by seeing which party comes to power,” CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said while addressing a rally here.

“First they (Trinamool) were with the NDA-led by the BJP. In 2009, when the Congress-led UPA won, they sided with them. Now they are in a wait-and-watch mode till 2014. They are silent and so called neutral, which means they can go any way,” he said.

CPI(M) Politburo member and former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee also criticised the Trinamool for not coming out with their stand on Narendra Modi.  “Today everything is out in the open. The Trinamool Congress will not speak a word against BJP and Narendra Modi.  They have already prepared their hands to shake it with BJP and Modi,” he said.
