New Delhi: A Delhi court is expected to pronounce its judgement against Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in connection with a rape case.

He is accused of raping a sadhvi at his ashram in Punjab. The rape charges were made against Ram Rahim in 2002.

The victim had written a letter to the then former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the Chief Justice of Punjab, alleging sexual exploitation by Ram Rahim.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court took up the matter and ordered a CBI probe into the incident in 2002. In July 2007, a chargesheet was filed against him.

Rahim Singh is also facing two murder charges. He is accused of murdering a Sirsa-based journalist, Ram Chander Chatrapati, who had been writing about the Dera's activities. Chatrapati was shot on October 24, 2001 and died on November 21.

He was also accused of allegedly killing sect manager Ranjit Singh in July 2002.
