Coronavirus in Haryana: 22 more Tablighi Jamaat test positive for COVID-19, tally rises to 119

With the addition of the new positive patients, the total number of cases in the state rose to 119. They comprised 79 Jamaat members, who returned from the congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz in March.

Coronavirus in Haryana:  22 more Tablighi Jamaat test positive for COVID-19, tally rises to 119

Haryana on Tuesday reported 23 cases of coronavirus patients, out of them 22 were Tablighi Jamaat members and one was a health worker, state Health Minister Anil Vij said.

With the addition of the new positive patients, the total number of cases in the state rose to 119. They comprised 79 Jamaat members, who returned from the congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz in March.

Vij told the media 1,526 Jamaat members have been identified and they have been asked to report to the nearby health authorities to examine themselves otherwise a strict action would be initiated against them.

Out of the 23 latest cases, 16 were reported from Muslim-dominated Nuh and the remaining from Faridabad, both located in the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to the state's medical bulletin, out of 119 confirmed cases, six were from Sri Lanka and one each from Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa.

Forty-five patients were from other states -- 11 from Uttar Pradesh, seven Bihar, six Tamil Nadu, five Kerala, four West Bengal, three each from Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir, two Telangana and one each from Punjab, Karnataka, Chennai and Assam.

While two patients died, 15 have been discharged so far.
