New Delhi, June 10: With its government under attack from Opposition and sections of civil society on corruption issue, Congress has decided to launch a massive public campaign to “expose” what it calls their “grand design to usurp power through undemocratic means”.

Besides plans to hold a series of media interactions and public rallies across the country, the party has also brought out a booklet encapsulating “The Congress View on Present Situation”.

Dwelling on the issues of corruption and black money in the wake of the recent agitations by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, the booklet says, “Many of the demands raised by different persons are ill-informed and baseless.” AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said that the party has decided to strongly face the challenge “at a time when efforts are being made to spread all kinds of rumours.”

He also lambasted the BJP for describing the police action at Ramlila ground during Ramdev's agitation as “blackest day” in the country's history and said, “The blackest day in the modern history of India was when Mahatma Gandhi was murdered”.

Dwivedi said that a decision has been taken that party leaders will hold interactions with media in different parts of the country to put forth Congress' perspective on the issue and senior leaders will hold party rallies in all state capitals before June 30.

Senior ministers from the government, AICC in-charge of states and the state leadership will participate in the rallies. PTI
