Mumbai: Maharashtra Industry Minister and senior Congress leader Narayan Rane today threatened to resign from the cabinet over the Konkan development issue.
He made this threat at the state cabinet meeting saying that he would rather resign from the cabinet but would never allow the Western Ghats to lag behind in development.
The provocation was the Gadgil committee report which has recommended that the entire Western Ghats in Konkan region be declared as eco-sensitive.
Rane said he was opposed to the recommendatons of Gadgil Committeee and would not remain a silent spectator.
