New Delhi, Nov 6: Congress today reacted sharply to L K Advani's attack on party chief Sonia Gandhi, questioning why he “did not whisper a word” about black money and corruption when NDA was in power.
Terming as “ridiculous and travesty of truth” Advani's allegation that Gandhi was “silent” on these issues, AICC spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi alleged that the BJP leader did nothing about anti-corruption measures during the NDA rule.
“It is a ridiculous allegation and a travesty of truth. The Congress President has repeatedly spoken out against corruption including at the Burari session of party plenary and the UPA has successfully implemented a number of anti-corruption measures,” Singhvi said.
“It was infact Advani who did not whisper a word about black money even once between 1998 and 2004 and did nothing about anti-corruption measures,” Singhvi added.
During his rath yatra, BJP leader L K Advani had asked, “Why is the Congress president totally silent on the issues of black money, corruption and inflation? On these three issues all the while other Congress spokesmen are speaking or the Prime Minister is speaking occasionally, but not the Congress president. She has never spoken,” Advani had told reporters.
