Ahmedabad, Nov 8: Congress on Monday alleged BJP leader L K Advani had shared stage with a bootlegger during his Jan Chetna Yatra in Daman and had also stayed in a hotel of another bootlegger.

Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Arjun Modhvadia  alleged, “prime minister in waiting Advaniji had shared stage with a bootlegger Suresh Patel in Daman during his Jan Chetna Yatra and had stayed in hotel Sea Rock owned by Jayshreben who is wife of another bootlegger Harshad Bhandari”.

Adavani was in union territory of Daman on Saturday evening where he had addressed a rally and had stayed their overnight before his yatra entered Gujarat on Sunday.  Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said, “There were 28 cases pending against Suresh Patel and he was detained thrice under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act”.  “What kind of awareness Advani was trying to create by sharing the dais with bootlegger, when his yatra is for Jan Chetna,” Gohil said.

“There are also number of cases against another bootlegger Harshadbhai in whose hotel Advani spent the night.  The hotel has also been charged with violation of CRZ rules,” he alleged.

However, BJP has refuted the charges by saying that this is all humbug. “All these charges are humbug. We would not like to comment on these things,” BJP media convener of Gujarat Jagdish Bhavsar said.
