Bhubaneswar, Apr 27: Indian Coast Guard Ship C-425, the third of the series of Interceptor Boats, was today commissioned at Paradip.
“The 30-metre long Interceptor Boat with 90 tonnes displacement can achieve a maximum speed of 45 knots,” Coast Guard spokesman N K Ramba said.
“The vessel is fitted with state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipment and medium range armament.
“The boat is designed for high speed interception, close-coast patrol, low-intensity maritime operations, search and rescue and maritime surveillance,” he said.
The Interceptor Boat C-425 would be based at Paradip under the administrative and operational control of the Commander Coast Guard District Headquarters No 7.
Odisha Cheief Secretary B K Patnaik, Coast Guard Inspector General K C Pande PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region (North- East) attended the commissioning programme.
