Seeking to play down reports about incursions by Chinese troops into Indian territory, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna termed them as "exaggerated" and said the India-China border was one the most "peaceful and tranquil"'.
"Whenever such incursions have taken place, we have put a mechanism in place to sort out such issues at field level.
India-China border, which is long and not demarcated, is one of the most peaceful and tranquil", Krishna told reporters in Bangalore.
Noting that India was striving for an amicable settlement on the border issue, he said Special Representatives of the two countries had already held 13 rounds of talks.
"The Indo-China border issue is being negotiated. Already 13 meetings have taken place between the officials from both sides. We are striving to work out an amicable settlement to the India-China border issue," he said. PTI
