Char Dham Yatra 2023: The portals of the sacred Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand, one of the renowned pilgrimage sites, are set to close soon due to the onset of the winter season. With the closing of the portals, the Char Dham Yatra (pilgrimage to the four shrines) will conclude. On the occasion of Vijayadashami, a ceremony was held at the Badrinath temple premises, attended by religious leaders and priests, where the decision to close the portals of the Badrinath shrine was taken after the calculation of the Panchang (Hindu calendar).
Doors will be closed from this date
Following the calculation of the Panchang (Hindu calendar), religious leaders and priests have decided to close the portals of the Badrinath shrine on November 18 at 3:33 pm. The President of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Ajendra Ajay, shared this information on Tuesday. While the portals are closed, devotees can have the darshan of Lord Badrinath in his winter abode at the Narasimha Temple in Joshimath.
Gangotri-Yamunotri Dham doors to close on this date
In Hinduism, among the Char Dham (four sacred shrines), only the Badrinath Temple has a specific date for closing its doors. The closing date for the other three shrines is determined based on the Diwali festival. The Gangotri Temple will close its doors on the day after Diwali, coinciding with Govardhan Puja. The Kedarnath and Yamunotri Temples will close on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.
How many devotees visited Badrinath Dham?
The portals of the Badrinath Temple were opened for pilgrims on April 27 this year. As of the latest information, more than 16 million devotees have had the opportunity to have darshan at the Badrinath shrine. It should be noted that with the closing of the Badrinath Temple gates on November 18, the Char Dham Yatra for this year will also conclude.
