Dausa, Rajasthan, Nov 4: Despite a gruelling effort to rescue a two-and-a-half year old boy Ankit who fell into a borewell  here on Thursday at 10 am, chances now appear to be slim of seeing him alive.

With more than 36 hours over, the rescue workers are still to reach up to the trapped boy.

Fire brigade staff were joined by Army jawans in a bid to rescue Ankit.

Ankit is down at 135 feet deep inside the borewell. CCTV camera inserted inside the well showed Ankit was standing inside the hellhole.

Ankit's voice was being heard till 2:30 pm on Thursday, after which there was no audio response. The district administration is not much hopeful about rescuing the child live.

Ankit's father Ram Swarup Meena and mother Nareshi are distraught, as chances of their son surviving are negligent.

A second hole is being dug parallel to the borewell but there is a risk of soil caving in because the borewell soil seems to be soft.

An oxygen pipe was inserted inside the borewell to help Ankit breathe.

Abandoning unsued borewell in Rajasthan is a cognisable crime, but the law appears to be confined only to the statute book.
