New Delhi: In a bid to promote the tourism sector in India, the Central Government is planning to start visa-on-arrival facility for tourists from European and western countries at Varanasi and Bodh Gaya airports, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Shripad Naik said.
Naik said that his Ministry is already in touch with various other ministries for its earliest implementation.
While inaugurating of the 17th convention of ‘Tourist Guides Federation of India' in Varanasi on Saturday, Naik said tourist guides are cultural ambassadors of India and they play a vital role in promotion as well as growth of the tourism sector.
He also hinted that the Tourism Ministry will soon be introducing a pension and an insurance facility for the guides and a proposal in this has been already prepared the Ministry.
