With mobile services remaining disrupted for the third day in several parts of Noida, near the national capital, cellular operators on Tuesday threatened to move the High Court against the Noida Authority which had sealed nearly 250 telecom towers.

Noida Authority in the last three days has sealed nearly 250 telecom towers installed in residential areas accusing the operators of not adhering to the guidelines and consulting Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs).

"We have met telecom regulator TRAI but did not get any immediate respite. They (TRAI) are saying that they will come out with a consultation paper on it... This may take 4-6 months," S C Khanna, Secretary General, AUSPI representing CDMA players like RCom and Tata Teleservices, said.

Both COAI (body representing GSM operators) and AUSPI met TRAI chairman J S Sarma on this issue.

"Now we are contemplating moving the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court for their intervention," Khanna said.

COAI Director General T R Dua, however, could not be contacted for his comments about the GSM operators.

Most of the operators, both GSM or CDMA, confirmed that their services have been hit badly and subscribers were made to undergo hardship. PTI
