Chandigarh: The Central Bureau of Investigation team has registered FIR against the self- styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim and few others involved in the alleged forced castration of his followers at his Sirsa ashram, today.
A case under sections 417, 326, 506 and 120B of IPC has been registered against the Dera head and others at CBI's crime branch in New Delhi.
CBI took action after a petition was filed by a Dera follower and the ‘victim' Hans Raj Chauhan alias Hakiki in the Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh. Earlier the HC had ordered for medical examination of the petitioner Chauhan from a government multi-specialty hospital which reported that he has been castrated.
Taking cognizance of the petition, on December 23, the court had ordered a CBI probe in the matter.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim is also facing trial in connection with cases of murder of a journalist and has been accused by a Dera follower for sexually exploiting his women disciples in Panchkula's CBI court.
This has come at a time when Baba Ram Rahim's movie Messenger of God is all set to hit the theatres across the country next week.
